Last week, I was able to represent Tech Networks of Boston at the 2019 B Corp Champions Retreat in Los Angeles. Tech Networks of Boston has always aimed to do good through the way we do business; that’s why we’re a Certified B Corp and a legal Benefit Corporation. The Champions Retreat was a wonderful opportunity to get to know the B Corp community, hear from impactful speakers, and participate in several hands-on breakout sessions.
Each session I attended gave me the chance to think about our business and our B Corp status in a new way. One of the most interesting sessions I went to focused on the ways in which B Corps can work with nonprofits. During this session, we heard from three nonprofits, Kiss the Ground, Do Good Bus, and Pediatric Therapy Network. They talked to us about their missions, outcomes and pain points.
This session stressed the importance of B Corps and nonprofits working collaboratively to fulfill common goals. Here at TNB, we are proud to work with and for our nonprofit clients. I walked away with some great tips on how to best empower our nonprofit community. I also left with some thoughtful, encouraging, and welcoming contacts in the B Corp community here in Massachusetts and around the world.
Overall, last week was an exciting and immersive experience. I was reminded each day why we focus our business on our triple bottom line. I am thankful to B Lab for putting on an event that I am sure inspired all 600+ attendees and encouraging us to not only listen, but act.
While we here at TNB work on creating our next steps to better engage with our community and partners, please share with us any tips, best practices, or recommendations you have that will allow us to empower your organization. Tech Networks knows we’re better together, and I am excited to get to work.
