Here at Tech Networks of Boston, we have a company promise: “We’re Better Together.”
For us, this represents the great relationships we have with our nonprofit and mission-driven businesses that we proudly support in the greater Boston area. And yet today, when we think of our promise, we know we cannot forget the current events and protests happening throughout our country right now. America has forgotten that we are better together. We, as a community, thrive when we resolve our differences, come to a common understanding and excel as a group. Even with our American ideal, we must admit certain communities and certain minorities have been left behind.
Martin Luther King Jr said: “A man dies when he refuses to stand up for that which is right. A man dies when he refuses to stand up for justice. A man dies when he refuses to take a stand for that which is true.”
We have decided to take a stand for what is right. We want to use our talents and our capital to help organizations that are trying to further the Black Lives Matter movement. Starting today, we’re offering to pay the nonprofit filing fee ($275 for a 1023-EZ) for the next ten Boston-area #blacklivesmatter organizations looking to take the next step and become a legal nonprofit. We will also help these organizations apply for other technology grants, such as a $10,000/month Google Ads campaign and free email hosting from Microsoft, after they receive their probational non-profit status.
Saying our promise “We’re Better Together” simply is not enough anymore. We are following the words of Civil Rights leader Rep. John Lewis. We must “say something, do something, stand up and speak out.”
We hope you will join us in this fight.
